Celebrating women everywhere!

"Women who are not self-focused but believe in building up others are set apart. These women exude confidence, inner resilience, and glow with radiance. Secure women are the most beautiful women!"

I wanted to do something different for IWD this year. A close friend shared that I should write about what IWD means to me. I found the idea to be appealing. I thought about it during my commute this morning.

International Women's is Day is a global day of celebration for the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women as per google. Which is well and good! But I feel that we should go beyond this! We should celebrate the person itself and not only their accolades or what they have achieved.

In the last couple of months, I built friendships with a group of women. They blew my mind and changed my view on how I see women's relationships. We have Anne, bursting with energy, Shamah who is cheeky and has so much love in her, Amanda, who is such a delight to be around, Wendy, like a warmth sunshine, Keisha who is gentle but has such a big heart to love the people around her, and the amazing Joyce who is always there for all of us.

All of us are in different seasons of our lives and possess different personalities. We face different challenges but what connects us is a sense of community and love. We stand by each other and build each other up. We believe in and support each other's dreams. When things do not work out, we spur each other on. That is the true essence of IWD. Women from different walks of life, coming together to build each one up and love on each other.

I have been so blessed with so many wise women in my life, that I will never take for granted. Happy International Women's Day to all the mothers, daughters, wives, sisters out there!! You make a difference with all your contributions, love, and dedication.
