The Living Room Anniversary Feature

Last year, on 23 April 2020, I started my Youtube Channel, called "The Living Room." I didn't have a lot of plans for the channel. But I knew the reason why I started it. I have always found it easier to connect with women, in general. I have been a form of comfort to them and encouraged them through tough times. That was when I realized that our lives can impact people. With the use of social media, I can encourage and empower more women.

When I started this pet project, I wanted to keep it simple. I wanted to enjoy the process of connecting and talking to other strong women out there. That is the reason why I decided to call the channel "The Living Room". It made it sound informal and personal. We are always comfortable in our living room, free to be as we are. We also make our guests feel welcomed in that room. That is what I wanted the guests coming on board to experience.

I got in touch with family, friends & acquaintances who have been an inspiration to me. Although the desire was there, it was not easy to achieve. Though I had wonderful people who bought into my vision supported me, there were also countless rejections. I would have appreciated if people had just said no, instead of giving me silly excuses. Whenever I start something, there is only one verse that I hold close to my heart. Romans 8:28, NASB: "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

I believe my dreams were small, I was reaching out to people in my own community but the Lord was extending my influence. I connected with new people, outside of my network. These women were subject matter experts in their field and their contributions were greatly appreciated. It had been my privilege and honor to meet these women who are strong leaders and experts in their field.

In recent times, I have the opportunity to speak to guests out of South East Asia. I don’t think this will be possible without the favor or God in my life. I will never have imagined being able to interview international guests. I am thankful for the opportunity. Moving forward, I do hope to have have short series that will touch on sensitive topics like mental health, emotional and domestic abuse, addictions etc.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all my guests and people who supported me in my vision. My awesome publicist Theo who is relentless in pushing opportunities for me.

Let's do our part to encourage and lift up our fellow sisters!
